The problem of disability is gaining more and more importance all over the world. In India "3% of India's children are mentally/physically challenged."
In its endeavor to extend educational opportunities to the ignored special children especially who are mentally disabled, Vedanta Foundation spearheaded the Vedanta School for mentally challenged.
Vedanta School for Mentally Challenged was setup in the year 1997 with a vision to create and provide educational infrastructure for the neglected children of the society due to their mental disability.
The vision of the school is to create & provide education infrastructure for the mentally disabled children to assist them in normal development and attain inclusive education. The entire process shall instill a confidence among these children to face life with courage and confidence in the society.
Vedanta School for Mentally Challenged offers a learning friendly environment, to facilitate the learning and development of the mentally disabled child. The School uses services of Special Educators who are trained to understand the special needs of the mentally disabled children for ensuring effective delivery of the school curriculum. Multiple techniques of teaching are adopted and incorporated by the Special Educators for teaching the children of the school. Sensory training & perceptual knowledge is stressed on and the children are taught utilitarian tasks to help them become more independent.
