Vedanta E-Shiksha @ Govt. Schools

India is fast emerging as the IT capital of the world. However, there still exists a great digital divide, as the benefits of IT are savoured by only a few who can afford this education, making computer literacy inaccessible for many. Gaining basic computer education is expensive and out of reach for lesser privileged. Hence, at Vedanta Foundation, we have been working towards bridging the privilege gap, by providing equal learning opportunities to those deprived of it.
Realising the need for quality computer education for underprivileged children, Vedanta Foundation started Vedanta E-Shiksha @ Govt. Schools project in 2004. Under this project the components of the services are providing E-content for CAL subjects, E-content for basic computer Education, Training of Teachers, monitoring of the program, Pre and post survey and analysis of the program and the project.

The objective was to introduce students of Govt. schools of class V-VIII to computers. To begin with we associated with the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai under the PPP model in over 800 Govt. schools for the period of 5 yrs. Under this association 4, 00,000 Govt. school students have benefited. Currently we have 100 Govt. schools in Mumbai and also 200 schools in Rajasthan benefiting 40,000 students.
Further to the success of the above project Vedanta Foundation has signed a MoU with Maharashtra Government for 2,950 Govt.schools in all 34 districts. We are soon starting with the first phase of 500 schools in Maharashtra and 500 schools in Rajasthan benefiting 1 lakh students.
To expand this program we are in talks with other states like Chattisgarh, Orissa and West Bengal.

The vision is to reach to 10,000 schools benefiting 1 million students in the span of 3 yrs.
