Vedanta Bal Chetna

The early stages of a child’s life are of crucial importance for his or her future development. A recent survey conducted among below-poverty-line (BPL) families has shown that there is a strong underlying need for childcare, nutrition and education. In view of this, Vedanta Foundation has set up Bal Chetna centres all over India in rural
and tribal areas, as well as urban areas where low-income migrant labourers and lower-middle-class families reside. Bal Chetna centres focus
on the physical, emotional  and psychological development of the child by teaching them through creative means such as games, drawing, colouring and thorough use of alphabets. The aim is to create well-rounded young children capable of entering formal schooling successfully.

Teachers at Bal Chetna assist parents to select suitable schools for their children. At times, the Foundation provides financial support to children in order to help them through school. Through Bal Chetna the Foundation is committed to ensure that children do not miss out on educational opportunities simply because of their constrained financial status.Observing the conditions of the Government run anganwadis Vedanta Foundation adopted 1000 anganwadis in Rajasthan and Orissa.
This project reaches out to approximately 40,000 children. Other than the Government Aganwadis, the Foundation has 96 Vedanta Bal Chetna centres of its own. Through this project approximately 4000 children in the age group of 2½-5 years are benefited every year.
